- WinCC Flexible 2004 SP1 or higher is required
- WinCC Flexible Compact, Standard and Advanced can be used
- WinCC Flexible 2004 users can update to SP1 free of charge via internet download at:
 Service Pack 1 for WinCC Flexible 2004
- WinCC Flexible 2004 SP1 Compact, Standard and Advanced users need a free of charge Hardware Service Pack to configure the TP177A. This can be downloaded from:

- OP3 projects in Protool can be easily converted to WinCC Flexible
