Success Story
Productivity Tour of Australia & New Zealand 2007
The Productivity tour of Australia and New Zealand was great success.
The Productivity Tour, a one day program for Siemens existing and new customers, travelled to Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in Australia and to Auckland and Hamilton in New Zealand.
The one day program was focused on how Siemens customers can maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of their manufacturing plants, through real time management.
Mr. Gunther Walden, Head of Food & Beverage Centre of Competence, was the first key note speakers at the Productivity Tour of New Zealand. Gunther spoke on the Global Trends in Food & Beverage and highlighted the major challenges faced by the Food & Beverage manufacturers, which is increasing Productivity and reducing costs to stay competitive in the international market. The second key note speaker was Mr. Craig Grammer, Managing Director of J A Russell Ltd. a local partner of Siemens in New Zealand. Craig talked about Productivity and Automation Trends and their impact on the New Zealand market. Interestingly both speakers drew the same conclusion that to succeed in this competitive environment the manufacturers have to provide "Value Added Solutions". Several case studies were presented to elucidate this point.
Gunther's speech was followed by presentations by Product Managers on mitigating risks, improving operational effectiveness, keeping the plant running, reducing engineering risks, utilising one system for complete machine control and creating direct link from production to management.
The success of any event can only be gauged by the customer participation and feedback from the customers. The event was attended by 95 managers and engineers in Auckland and by 34 in Hamilton. 40% of attendees were a manager in their organisation showing a good percentage of decision makers attending the event.
This is what the customers had to say:
"Well Organised and planned event" Sanitarium
"A big push by Siemens I hope they Re-establish well in NZ" New Zealand Steel
"Excellent presentation on Mitigating your Risks" Techno Systems
"Very well run and Structured" Liquigas
