Productivity Tour Success

Success Story

Siemens Industrial Automation & Control recently conducted a Productivity Tour for customers around Australia and New Zealand.

Ryan Hammond

Siemens IAC Product Manager, Ryan Hammond, discusses how to shorten time to market via simplified machine to machine communication.

The Productivity Tour, a one day program for Siemens existing and new customers, travelled to Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in Australia and to Auckland and Hamilton in New Zealand.

The one day program was focused on how Siemens customers can maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of their manufacturing plants, through real time management.

In his presentation at the Melbourne venue Siemens Managing Director, Albert Goller, spoke about the importance of decentralised manufacturing in maintaining global competitiveness in business. He said decentralised manufacturing will become the key element of productivity success.

"Decentralised manufacturing enables the achievement of a balance between low volume production, quality, and cost effectiveness.

"Real Time Management will be the enabler of decentralised management. The availability of all relevant information at all times and places will help to ensure optimal integration of separate tasks along the entire production chain," said Mr Goller.

The program consisted of presentations and hands on workshops in Process Automation and Factory Automation, and focused on industry case studies.

The overall feedback received from participants across all regions was the practical approach was a very interesting and successful method of communicating the Siemens message. Participants in all locations were very positive about the event and a common request was for this type of roadshow to be conducted on a regular basis.

The Customer's Story

Siemens customers also gave presentations on challenges in their specific industries and cost effective solutions provided by Siemens. Phil Butler, Textor, reported on the challenges he faces in his industry concerning increased competition from Asian countries and how Siemens IAC helps his company to stay competitive. "Siemens is as vital for my company as the Commonwealth bank is", he confirmed during his presentation at the Productivity Tour in Melbourne.

Ken Sparg, BGC Perth, reported enthusiastically on his experiences with Siemens IAC. Mr Sparg is using the entire SIMATIC TIA suite and announced openly, during his presentation in front of 50 customers: "BCG needs one single supplier for our engineering and network platform and Siemens is our preferred supplier - we are just sure about their reliability and technical expertise and trust them 100%".

The Siemens Productivity Tour attracted close to 400 customers and considerably strengthened these relationships. Sales representatives and product managers together with IAC Marketing and Siemens senior management are pleased with the success of the events and will continue this format in the future.
