Better Spinning
Retrofit of a spinning machine for tire cord with a complete solution from Siemens.

Accurately Drawn and Wound
Simotion D and Sinamics S120 for POY spinning systems: distributed automation of the spinning units makes the plant layout more flexible.

A Generation Change in Drives
Totally Integrated Automation in impregnating machines for technical fabrics with Sinamics.

Exact Laying
Proven motion control technology and highly dynamic servo drives form the basis for a scalable, modular solution for non-woven layers.

Productivity-Boosting Systems
The Siemens booth, with its two futuristic cylinders, will showcase numerous interesting innovations.

Ultra-Dynamic Hardening
Eldec Schwenk Induction GmbH in Dornstetten, Germany, uses Sinumerik, Simodrive and Vision sensors in its induction-hardening systems in order to ensure that the best possible procedure is in place for applying significantly increased generator power to components.

3,300 Plasters per Minute
When we use a plaster we rarely ask ourselves how it is manufactured and packed. However, the machines which produce plasters for treating wounds are highly developed and extremely efficient, fast and accurate. This is demonstrated by an Italian machine manufacturer who relies on Siemens drive technology.

Faster Printing
The track speed in serviette printing is limited by the printing technology at the moment. To increase the productivity, the start-up, setup and standstill times have to be reduced and the waste percentage minimized. The advantages which modular machines with single axis drives offer here consistently exploit a homogeneous motion control automation with system-integrated drives.

Flexibly into the Bag
A German manufacturer is equipping his packing machines for sensitive products consistently with the Simotion motion control system and is getting very good results. One example is a packing machine for tampons which allows changeover to other formats continuously and without additional mechanical adaptations.

Always Accurately Positioned
Bottle filling plants are complex machines which make great demands on the individual axes in terms of speed and synchronization. This applies particularly for the labeling machine integrated here. The Simotion D motion control system helps the machine to achieve a record-breaking performance, precision and flexibility.

Know-How for Press Operators
As of recently, Siempelkamp, the global market leader in the field of continuous presses for the timber industry, has been passing on its knowledge to customers and employees through its own academy. Technology from Siemens thereby plays an important role: among other things, in training courses in which the automation and drive system of the forming and pressing lines is simulated.

Fast Retooling
As part of a pilot project, the MAKA Max Mayer Maschinenbau company developed a new machining center for wooden, aluminum and plastic door machining. With its minimal space requirements and flexible applications options, it also offers vocational businesses the opportunity of implementing automatic machining. Equipped with state-of-the-art control and drive technology, the machining center for doors meets all of the company's expectations in terms of speed and flexibility.

A Vision Based on Experience
Reichenbacher Hamuel has been manufacturing CNC machining centers for over 30 years. However, the earliest machines and those of the newest generation really only have the basic concept in common. The two latest products on display at LIGNA 2007 were consistently improved with the help of innovative control and drive generation.

New Dimension
The new Pro-Master CNC machining center from HolzHer-Reich Spezialmaschinen enables perfect 5-axis machining of all types of wooden parts. In addition to its vibration-free operation, the modern Sinumerik 840D solution line control system also plays a key role in the machine's performance, providing optimal results even for high-speed cutting.

Faster Alignment
A high yield of cut timber at a high processing speed is characteristic of modern saw mills. Linck Holzverarbeitungstechnik, a leading manufacturer of saw mill systems, offers concepts for cutting capacities of up to 1.5 million solid cubic meters of timber per year. Linck further optimized the cycle time of a trunk handler at a new factory located near Ingolstadt with a drive solution that uses Sinamics and Profinet.

Optimal "Framework Conditions"
In order to feed pallets for chassis assembly in a mixed production plant with short cycle times and space limitations, Auto 5000 in Wolfsburg chose an innovative concept: a dynamic, fully-automated retrieval system, very quickly designed and developed by Siemens. Initial results have been very positive, and the system was chosen to be the central exhibit at the Volkswagen booth in Hall 17 of the forthcoming Hanover Fair.

Cold Cuts
The modernization of the main drive of a blanking press in a blanking line at the end of 2005 has brought decisive advantages to the BMW factory in Dingolfing: low maintenance effort for the drive, high operational reliability, service friendliness of the components and energy saving. A tailor-made press main drive with state of the art three-phase AC technology which fully meets the required dynamic properties and saves additional operating costs has been installed for this.

Crystal clear mastery
The glass industry is replacing application-specific automatic control technology increasingly with mechatronic solutions with increase the productivity. This is also the case at the Czech machine manufacturer's Sklostroj Turnov. They use the Simotion Motion Control System in their container glass machines which is ideal for controlling complex multi-axis machines owing to its real time capability and scalability.

Die Cutter Driven Forward
Rotoflex International of Ontario, Canada had been using electronic servo drives to control the reversing path movement of its Vericut label die cutting machines. But the technology had reached its limits. After searching for a modular, expandable solution, the company selected the Siemens drive-based Simotion D motion control system with Sinamics drives. Flexibility and performance, along with a speedy implementation, convinced Rotoflex managers to similarly equip future machine generations.
