Sinamics S120 with integral positioning function
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) will present an integral positioning function for the Sinamics S120 drive for the first time at this year's SPS/IPC/Drives trade fair in Nuremberg. This function saves on an additional, higher-level position control in both simple and demanding applications.

The integral positioning function in the Sinamics S120 is characterized above all by its flexibility. It can be used for high-dynamic servo controls as well as for simpler applications with asynchronous motors with vector control. Up to 64 target positions or traverse paths and their relevant motion parameters can be stored permanently in the drive at startup. These can also be received by a higher-level PLC depending on requirements. In addition, target positions, speeds and other motion parameters can be modified during a positioning approach. The integral monitoring of traverse range limits, following error and standstill calls attention to operating faults in good time and thus increases the operating safety of a machine.

The Sinamics S120 family of drives features integrated modular drives for single-axis and multi-axis applications. The drives are also available in versions for regenerative feedback.
