Converter reduces low-frequency harmonic effects

With the new Sinamics G150 Clean Power frequency converter from Siemens Drive Technologies, an energy-efficient drive with high power ratings is available for fans, pumps and compressors or extruders, mixers and mills. The converter also reduces low-frequency harmonic effects on the system and thus fulfils the high requirements for current and voltage quality placed on mains supplies. Converter reduces low-frequency harmonic effects
Energy efficiency and process quality are the major arguments for using converters in applications such as pumps, fans, compressors, extruders, mixers and mills. The high power ratings of the converters required for these applications lead to undesired effects on the grid if no appropriate precautionary measures are taken. The new Sinamics G150 Clean Power converter meets both requirements. Its functions are exactly tailored to the energy-efficient operation of fans, pumps and compressors and simple applications with constant torques. At the same time, the converter features an extremely low harmonic content in voltage and current and thus reduces the low-frequency harmonic effects.

The Sinamics G150 Clean Power combines the advantages of the robust 6-pulse rectifier technology with an integrated passive Line Harmonics Filter compact (LHF compact). With this filter, the converter meets even stringent standards such as IEEE519. And pulse frequency components in line current are also avoided with the LHF compact. With the LHF concept mode of operation, active components are not required and there is no need for complex transformer technology. This reduces wear and tear and thus increases availability. Furthermore, power losses are low, which in turn has a positive effect on the efficiency of the converter.

Thanks to the integration of the filter, the converter is very compact in design. Simultaneously, the line fuses of the converter also protect the LHF compact. Circuit breaker and power contactor disconnect the converter and filter safely from the mains power supply, avoiding the need for costly double installation of fuses, circuit breakers and contactors and for an additional line reactor. This filter solution can also be easily combined with high degrees of protection and integrated safety functions.
