A new communication module is available for connecting RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) write/read devices to Ethernet. The main areas of application of this module designated Simatic RF182C are mechanical engineering, conveyor systems, assembly lines of the automotive and automotive supplier industries and small assembly lines. The new product is intended for Ethernet communication via TCP/IP protocol and supplements the Profibus and Profinet modules already on offer.

Mechanical 3D CAD data is now available in STEP format for the SIMATIC Sensors products to support the design, configuring and documentation processes. Images can be found quickly in the database thanks to extensive search functions (search by order number or using search terms such as product name, 3D or light curtain). The required data can then be downloaded direct via the Internet without registration.

The new SIMATIC RF680T High-Temperature is a passive and maintenance-free UHF-based transponder (EPC, Class 1 Gen2) for saving the "Electronic Product Code" (EPC, 96/240 bits) with 64 bytes of additional memory. The transponder can be mounted direct on metal. It is heat-resistant, extremely rugged, has a high degree of protection (IP68;IPX9K), and is resistant to detergents. The transponder is designed for the 868 MHz (Europe) and 915 MHz (USA).
