Safety door without guard locking in Category 4

A safety-related SIMATIC S7-300 CPU is to monitor a safety door according to Category 4 / PL e / SIL 3 in conjunction with SIMATIC ET 200S standard and safety-related modules. Position switches without guard locking are frequently used for dangerous machine movements with short braking times. The function example includes the documentation and program code.

Function Example "Light Curtain with Muting Function"

The movements of a press are protected during operation by a light curtain. The protection function is intentionally suppressed during transportation of the material into the dangerous area. This so-called muting function is triggered by muting sensors. A safety-related SIMATIC S7 CPU evaluates the signals from the light curtain and muting sensors.
