Application Example "Diagnostics Procedure for
PROFINET Network Components"
A PROFINET I/O system with various network components is
to be monitored. The automation solution comprises a PROFINET IO Controller,
an HMI station as well as a SCALANCE X208, a SCALANCE X202 and two ET 200S PN
FO modules as PROFINET devices. In addition to individual diagnostics of the
components, it should also be possible to provide detailed diagnostics of the
complete system. The application example comprises documentation and program
code.

Typical Response Time on PROFINET
Many applications call for a fast response time via the
distributed I/Os. To exchange data quickly and efficiently between the distributed
I/O and S7 stations, the SIMATIC uses PROFIBUS DP and also PROFINET IO. Typical
PROFINET IO configurations consist of an I/O controller with several I/O devices,
whereby programming devices (PG) or HMI devices (panels) are used on the Industrial
Ethernet. One of the most important questions concerning the arrangement of such
configurations relates to the expected response times.

SIMATIC ET 200M Available for PROFINET
The IM
153-4 PN interface module now enables connection of the ET 200M distributed I/O
system to PROFINET. In addition, the 153-4 module has an interface with integral
2-port switch and T functionality in the power supply. Up to 12 modules can be
plugged in within one station, saving space in the control cabinet. The channel
density can also be significantly increased by 64-channel modules ( 64
DI and 64
DO). |

White Paper: PROFINET in the Process Industries
Having proven its value in factory automation, industrial Ethernet is now emerging as a viable solution in the process industries as well. A new ARC White Paper entitled "PROFINET in the Process Industries" appeared in April 2007. |
SIMOTION V4.1 and PROFINET for High Performance
in Machine Automation
Version 4.1 of the SIMOTION Motion Control System features
extended
PROFINET functions for modular machine concepts, enabling electrical
and hydraulic drives to be synchronized with each other. In addition, controllers
can be configured simultaneously at the same PROFINET interface as IO Controller
and IO Device. By means of controller-controller communication via PROFINET,
SIMOTION V4.1 permits axis synchronization between several controllers. |
