SIMOTION – the motion control system – integrates motion control, logic and technological functions into a single unit. This means that you have all of your machine control func- tions combined in just one system – seamless technology, no interfaces and none of the associated costs.
Integral Path Interpolation for Handling Modules in Packaging Machines
Handling modules are being integrated  more and more in modern production and packaging machines.
Handling – this means free movement in a space mainly between variable start and end points. The interpolation for handling processes integrated in the SIMOTION Motion Control System optimizes the performance and productivity of machines. The path interpolation technology object reduces the system load decisively and thus increases the performance of a machine. Only one controller is required for all machine functions. The technology object can be used together with the SIMOTION Top Loading software library.

SIMOTION V4.1 and PROFINET for high performance in machine automation
Version 4.1 of the SIMOTION Motion Control System features extended PROFINET functions for modular machine concepts, enabling electrical and hydraulic drives to be synchronized with each other. In addition, controllers can be configured simultaneously at the same PROFINET interface as IO Controller and IO Device. By means of controller-controller communication via PROFINET, SIMOTION V4.1 permits axis synchronization between several controllers.

Interpolation in the runtime system of SIMOTION V4.1 supplements the existing applicative interpolation via cams. The functionality is platform-independent and offers polynomial interpolation in addition to linear and circular interpolation. An important area of application is the handling of products. For this purpose, various transformations were implemented for conventional kinematics such as portal, SCARA, roll, jointed arm or delta kinematics.

The constantly increasing demands on the performance and flexibility of automation solutions can now be met by the new PC-based SIMOTION P350-3 Motion Control System, which integrates logic, motion control and HMI functionalities in an industry-standard box PC. The PC solution is open to be used with additional hardware and software and offers twice the level of performance of its predecessor.
New, High-performance Controller SIMOTION C240
The C240 Controller offers a 2.5 times increase in performance compared to the C230 Controller. As many as 32 axes can be coordinated by means of PROFIBUS with PROFIdrive-Profile. The retained data and the working memory capacities have been expanded to 100 KB and 20 MB respectively. The installation and interfaces of the C240 are fully compatible with the C230-2. The C240 Controller has four encoders and four analog interfaces for connection of analog drive units or stepper drives with pulse/direction interface, making it also particularly suitable for retrofit applications.
