Incremental encoders have a track with equidistant division and a defined number of increments as well as a zero track with a reference mark. The reference mark is assigned to exactly one increment of the incremental track and therefore has a clear assignment to the mechanical system of the machine.

Various electrical interfaces, e.g. RS 422 (TTL), HTL or analog signals with 1 VPP, are available for the interfaces of the higher-level control. Versions are also available for different operating voltages.
