Ultrasound proximity switches for the Ex area

Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) has developed a new range of ultrasound proximity switches for the Ex area. The contact-free Simatic PXS810 sensors are available in M18 compact design and in M30 K3 with fixed sensor head. The M18 types are designed for sensing ranges 5 to 30 and 15 to 100 centimeters, and M30 K3 for 6 to 30 and a maximum of 60 to 600 centimeters. The sensors can each be operated as diffuse sensors, retro-reflective sensors or thru-beam sensors and are suitable for use in areas such as paint shops, woodworking and food processing.

The Simatic PXS810 proximity switches are additionally equipped with stainless steel housing and Teflon coating especially for use in the food and beverages industry. Stainless steel and Teflon protect the sensor against abrasive detergents and thus guarantee smooth production sequences. The new sensors meet Atex safety requirements in accordance with RL94/9/EG for Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 22 (dust).
