Hi everyone, I'm trying to import an S7 project from a vendor and am getting a message stating that WinCC (component object manager) software package is not installed. Is this a separate package to WinCC flexible 2007 advanced/runtime..?

I've looked on both DVDs and cannot see it as an install option. Do I need to purchase further software..?

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi

Yes there is a difference between WinCC and WinCC flexible .WinCC is the bigger brother of wincc flexible the two are not quite compatable or the same the structure is different .

The component object manager is part of wincc , I think ,most possible is that wincc is not installed on your PC, this will not stop you from working with the PLC.

Here we only work on 'no need to know basis' ,just fix whatever is wrong

There are several options in the installation of WinCC that need to be selected for an integrated project.

  • Object Manager - This allows the insertion of the WinCC objects into Simatic Manager
  • AS-OS Engineering - This is the actuall tag/messages transfer mechanism
  • S7 Symbol Server - Allows you to 'browse' for S7 tags that have not yet been created within the WinCC project.

You can also add these options later by clicking add/remove components for WinCC.

if there are no changes to be applied in the SCADA system integrated in the project you need not Install the software you can edit the changes simply in the Simatic manager

Best Regards
