Dear All,

I need have communication of S7-400H PLC with DCS (Yokogawa) over Modbus TCP/IP.

Can anybody tell what hardware & software i need to consider in BOM.

Regards,
Arunraje.

Hello Arunraje,

here you can find information about the necessary software: How can you establish OPEN MODBUS / TCP communication from a SIMATIC S7 and where can you find further information?

What does BOM mean? I have no clue... blush

You just need a CP443-1 or a PN CPU (the choice is yours) and the open modbus TCP software available here.

Programming today is the race between software engineers building bigger and better idiot proof programs, and the universe producing bigger and better idiots.

So far, the universe is winning...

There is no product for the redundant communication via the PN interface of a PN-H-CPU available. So when using PN-H-CPUs without a CP 443-1, you need two licenses of 'ModbusTCP for PN CPU' and you need to implement redundancy switching yourself.

Dear ArunRaje,

You need a CP443-1 or a PN CPU and the open modbus TCP software. Redundant Modbus TCP is possible with CP443-1. However redundant option is not possible via PN (Profinet) CPU. Option 1: ( Redundant Modbus TCP via CP443-1)

Find below the different options for MODBUS TCP Communication

Option 1 ( Redundant MODBUS TCP via CP 443-1)

1. CP443-1 MLFB NO: 6GK7443-1EX20-0XE0
2. S7- OPEN MODBUS/TCP REDUNDANT FOR S7-400 H SYSTEMS, SINGLE LICENSE MLFB NO: 2XV9450-1MB11

Option 2 : (Non redundant Modbus TCP via CP 443-1)

1. CP443-1 MLFB NO: 6GK7443-1EX20-0XE0
2. S7 - OPEN MODBUS/TCP FOR NCM_CP, SINGLE LICENSE, ON CD MLFB NO: 2XV94501MB00

Option 3: (Modbus TCP via Profinet Interface of the CPU)

1. CPU 412-5H
2. S7- OPEN MODBUS/TCP FOR PN-CPU SINGLE LICENSE, ON CD MLFB NO: 2XV94501MB02

Option 4( MODBUS TCP via Profinet Interface of S7-1200 CPU)

For this case u need to consider only S7-1200 CPU. There is no need to consider any additional license. This is a cost effective solution for MODBUS TCP Communication

Thank you for that detailed information.

But the flyer that you uploaded is not up to date, e.g. the information about the function codes are no longer correct and not all the products are listed.

So I would always recommend to check this page:
S7 OpenModbus/TCP

It's information is always up to date.

Dear Hariprasad,

Thank you very much for detailled information.

In case of redundant communication I need to consider 2Nos of CP443-1 and 1No of 2XV9450-1MB11 is it.??
or i need to consider 2Nos of
2XV9450-1MB11.??

And also let me know wher this licence going to be installed..?

Waiting for your reply.

Regards,
Arunraje.

You need one license of 2XV9450-1MB11 for one H-station. It doesn't matter how many CPs you use in your H-station.

To license your H-station after purchasing the license, you need to do the Modbus configuration according to the manual. After that you can download the program and make sure that CPU(0) is the Master CPU. Then you can extract the IDENT_CODE. This code needs to be sent to IT4INDUSTRY together with the license number. They will generate a registration key for you. This key needs to be inserted in the configured registration DB. After downloading the DB, the Modbus block is licensed. You can find a detailed description of this in the manual of the Modbus block.

dear arun

for redundant modbus communication u need to consider 2 nos of CP443-1 with 1 nos of 2XV9450-1MB11- redundant license.
