MSI File initializing failed : ERROR_OPEN_FAILED

Now I am installing SIMATIC STEP Professional V11
I have DELL, Windows XP SP3 installed.

Bu after initial check it is giving an error :

MSI File initializing failed : ERROR_OPEN_FAILED

How to remove this error ?

Please help

What version of Windows xp you have exactly (pro or???)
Look at this pdf  to see if your OS is compatible with your software version.

Please help

Have you looked in the log file to see what msi file is generating the error?  You can run it (the faulting msi) manually from the dvd, then run the install (portal) again.

From which disc / forder are you installing? Maybe the installation medium is defective. Either use another copy of it or copy the contents to local disc.

I am also getting this error when installing WinCC advanced/comfort v11 sp2 on my windows 7 64-bit computer.
