what is the Pin Assignment ?
if Pin To Pin Extension Cable how many wires required in the cable? and what pins?
notes:
pc/ppi part no: 6ES7901-3BF21-0XA0
cpu part no: 6es7216-2bd22-0xb0
best regards,
Mahmoud

Dear Asecasy,
Actually If Ian in your place, I wouldn't use the PC/PPI cable. I will use standard profibus cable and two bus connectors and CP5611A2. In this solution, you can use up to 1000m cable between PLC and PC without using repeaters.

Tell us the actual distance between PC and PLC and If it's small distance, then you can use the PC adaptor using extension cable. 1-to-1. You will neec shield cable, 9 pins./0.25 mm^2 is enough.
But this solution may be not suitable for long distances as you may have noise and it may affect the communication.
Regards,

dear ayman
as salam 3alykom
it is an existing application and i want to replace the extension cable with longer one
the existing extension cable is pin to pin 9 wires cable
but i wonder if the PPI protocol need less than 9 wires it will be of little cost
the new distance is nearly 40 meter
plz check the attached pdf of a similar pc/ppi cable (not exact the one i have!!!)
and the highlighted text
i will try the 6 pin cable. if not working i will fix the 9 pin cable

Dear asecawy, Very nice. according to your document. It will be possible to use only 6 pin cable if the cable will be connected in the PLC side (i.e. the PC-PPI adapter will be in PC side). You should use 9-pin cable if you will connect the cable in PC side (i.e. the PC-PPI adapter will be in PLC side).
Again, I am not sure, Noise may make troubles and cause disconection!
