I'm using protool runtime 512 tags to act as opc server with an opc client using VB.
In a machine with a PC (CP5611) connected to 3 PLC ( 2x s73152dp  + 1 et 200s) using the profibus connection at 1.5MBPS with a length of almost 10 meters.

After 20 minutes of working in this machine the comunication with 1 of the PLCs starts to became slow ( the tags in Protool Scada have a delay of more than 20 seconds ) after a while all tags in protool became slow.  If I stop the opc client the system continue slow(I assume that the problems is not the OPC client). To solve the problem we have to close de protool and open again. and the comunication turns normal again for more 20 minutes. When the update of tags in scada is slow the commands direct to PLC are fast ( when I Press a button to start obe motor the ersponse is allways the same)
I already change the PLC, the CP5611, the speed of comunication of the profibus to 6mbps ans nothing solved the problem.
The failure in comunication starts with 1 of the plcs but after a while the problem extend to other two.
Thanks

Please check the communication speed settings in Protool and in HW configuration are the same e.g. 1.5 Mbps.

Hi,

is the project itself intergrated in Step7 and could you see all connections in NETPRO.
Waht is with the communication ressources in the PLCs, maybe to disable cyclic usage in Protool parameter settings can help, or give one more connection free for HMI in the plc settings.

regards aranel

Hello,
Check for all connections that the baudrates are the same. Think about 12Mbps as the length is only 10 meters.
I do recommend also to see the PC description and see whether it full fill the minimum requirements or you may have to get another PC and keeping into consideration the minimum requirements.

Do you have an Ethernet connection on the PC that you are using to transfer data to somewhere else? If so the transactions to the LAN could be causing other events to be buffered. I have had a similar problem using WinCC Flexible 2005 that caused to many buffered actions and locked up the PC. Have you checked your system event logs?

Thank you all for your help ....

For what I see, the tag update becames normal after start and stop the server in simatic Workstation... sometimes I have to start, stop and start again to the update turn normal again....
The way to solve the speed problem of update seems discovered .. the reason of the problem
i don't know ( peraphs what funstuff said .. something in the ethernet comunications, in the events of
windows seems all ok...what should i find if there is a buffer problem?).
This slow update happens more than 10 times a day i cannot tell the customer to
start and stop the server of simatic workstation...

Anyone kows how to do this (start and stop server of simatic Workstation)  using software, with vb app and a windows schedulled  task for example, since  i cannot find the complete reason of the problem?
