I have 2 local networks and try to receive and transfer same data between them.
The first network contained 5 400-CPU with CP 443-1witch is conected in one hub and 2 PC conected in other hub. The hubs are conected between them and on the PC (HMI) we receive data. Communication between CPU and PC is made with I/O server configuration (use COML S7). The other network is 1 CPU, 2 PC and 1ArCOSCP5614 Sample0008. They communicated with OPC Server configurired with PC Station Configuration. This 2 networks now is conected with optical networks. Each PC and CPU can see on the net. So my question is which protocol is must use to send data from one network CPU and read on the PC on the second network. And some addition information about it configuration.
On the HMI used InTouch Wonderware.

Hello,

let me try to answer your questions.

First of all let me tell you that in larger networks it is always recommendable to use Switches instead of Hubs, especially if you have such a number of nodes and a high traffic load, like HMI Systems have.

Well, OK, seen from the connection point of view I would ask firstly what Protocol is used on both Networks. In case of ISO Transport I would say no problem. You will not have to change anything. If you use TCP/IP it would require either to adjust the network settings or to use a Router to connect the two Subnets. The Router would work on one Network but with the two logical Subnets.

With S7-Connections, as you work with as far as I see from you explanations, it depends if you address with MAC Addresses or with IP Addresses.

As you see it is not really easy to say.

I hope I am able to help a bit.

Best regards
