Hi dear experts,

First of all just want to thank all the people that always try to help others, thats something really cool.

Well, I have problems to load my HMI screen (made in TIA portal) in my KTP1000-PN for testing the controller via HMI. I am using TIA portal V11 SP2. I am no using WINCC program to it, it is also possible without WINCC as far I understand.

When I turn on my HMI it starts ok, runs, but at some point it goes to a point where I have three options: TRANSFER, START, and CONTROL PANEL.
- I cant use Start, I guess since I have no project on it, thats why I am trying to load.
- When I go to Transfer, it just stays there forever, does nothing, just waits for something I still dont get what it is.
- When I go to Control Panel and try to set manually an IP, I can´t enter an "empty" or a "valid" DNS, the system is not satisfied and does not let me enter the IP address. It always tells me it only accept lower letters, numbers and "-" and even if I only use numbers says the same, its frustrating...

I tried to change the IP address of the HMI in the tia portal but even when I put 192.168.0.20 there, then I try to stablish connection and it says its again not reachable.

- My S7-1200 and Laptop have different IP addreses (10 and 30)
- When I check the network devices the 1200 and the HMI are in color blue and both connected by a PN/IE_1 bus. When I connect with the laptop to both, the devices are not anymore blue, but only the CPU 1200 appears with green check, that the connection ok, but a red cross in the HMI sad

Why I cant change the HMI IP address?

I dont have a clue what is happening, im new to the systems, so it might be that I am doing things wrong, any advices, suggestions?

HELP!!

And.. Many thanks in advance!!! grin

Hi,

Select Control panel.
Type in the IP adress and subnetmask.
Type a lower case DNS for example an a
For me an a normally works, a longer dns is not always accepted by the panel.

"Start" - only works when a valid project is loaded
"Transfer" - is expecting your portal project to start sending a valid project
"Control Panel" - network settings - you must set the ip address from the HMI unlike the plc where you must use the portal to set the address.

There are getting started tutorials, webinars, and help documentation that cover these basic topics and it would save you much time, frustration, and headache to go through at least a couple of them.  Several new ones were recently made available on the siemens support site.  A quick search should get you viewing a useful walk-through and then online and running your project.

I put one of your comments in bold above.  I think you want to create your project in the portal software with the wincc part of portal as it saves much time to create your project that way.  I cannot imagine trying to create a project without wincc being productive in any way for that HMI.

Hope this is useful.

Hey, hi madw

Well I tried to enter a letter, but I just have numbers available in the options, letters are not enabled....

Thats why I also wrote before that I have tried before numbers. I dont know if its the panel type that noly accepts numbers? actually I have only the letters A, B, C, D, E and F, but as said, cant write them, only numbers.

Any other idea?

Hi Mr. Huggy_d1

Thanks for your answer laugh

I think part of my confusion is whether the TIA portal and the WINCC softwares are the same or a different software.

I am using the TIA PORTAL to create an HMI screen and then trying to load this screen in the HMI device, a KPT1000-PN.

But if I am trying to do something its simply not possible with the TIA portal, then I need to buy the WINCC software?, I know this is like maybe the most basic question but could you help me answering this?

Best regards!!

There should be a shift button, to select lower case. Or a button a-z.

TIA Portal is 2 pieces of software melded together.  However, somewhere along the way, Siemens broke up the HMI piece (WinCC) and made it a separate download.

Click on Help -> Installed Software.

If you do not have the "WinCC Basic" showing up with a current version, you will want to download updates.

Once you can see your HMI as an available device with the same ip address physically entered into the HMI as your project HMI device is configured, you should be able to transfer (using the transfer button).

Again, the getting started with the hmi section in the online portal help will help, but only if your portal also has the wincc software installed.  If you are not using V11 SP2 Update 4, now would be a good time to udpate to the latest versions of everything.

Hi madw!

Unfortunately there is not such button, the only difference that I see in the numbers with respect to the letters is that the numbers are a little bit more like in 3D, and the letters are completely flat, with no light and dark borders.

I have two arrows to, one left and one right but pressing them changes nothing in the keyboard... sad

Anyway thanks for the ideas!!

Cheers!

Hi Huggy_d1,

Thanks for the explanation!

I checked the installed software and indeed I have both softwares Rnf:lblSmileyTooltip_ think and also with the update 4...

I was looking at different tutorials and videos of how to setup an HMI configuration during the day but even when I repeat the samne steps at least of the videos, I cant get the connection.

Also, when compiling the HMI, I have no alarms, no errors, is just that I have no detection of the HMI when I want to load the program. I have both the HMI and Laptop connected to the S7-1215c.

My CPU is a 1215c, with two profinet ports, I dont know if I should have an specific configuration for this double port CPU?

Thanks again! laugh

On my S7-1215c, I might connect 1 ethernet cable to the PLC and the HMI, and the 2nd port I might connect to my laptop.  In this way, you can connect to all devices from your laptop when you use the online tool "show accessible devices" and check the box to look everywhere.

It might help to try and ping your hmi from your laptop using the defined ip address you typed in on the HMI and configured in your project for the hmi.  They must match.

If you can ping the hmi, portal will be able to transfer the project.
