I know motor inertia is calculated when turning measurement is being done. But if it is not possible to measure turning measurement then how can find out motor inertia. I am using sensorless vector control and sinamics s120 drive.

Hello monir,
To identify motor inertia, it would be best to contact the manufacturer (or representative) for the motor.
Note: Always pay close attention to detail to units of dimension, but with inertia this is even more important. There are about ten different units of measure that are commonly used to define motor inertia. These different units can be in English units and metric units and they vary by extremely large numbers. Following is a website location to help with conversion of units.

From context of your question stating that you are using sensorless vector control on SINAMICS S120 drive, it appears the motor is a squirrel cage induction motor. Since motor inertia is not often a highly critical characteristic for drive applications using squirrel cage induction motors the motor manufacturer may not publish the motor inertia in catalogs. However, if you contact motor manufacturer and supply complete part number then the manufacturer can normally provide the motor inertia. Note some motor manufacturers may label motor inertia as rotor inertia.
If you were using a servo motor, the motor manufacturer normally provides motor inertia in catalog since quite often a servo motor is quite dynamically changing speeds, starting, and stopping to move load within the application.
