Hi

I am rebuilding a CNC machine part of it is a Micromaster 420 drive with Profibus module. I have purchased this new and I am assuming it needs a program to run. I will be contacting the machine manufacturer for the program but what do I need to load the program into the device?

Thanks

Nick

Hello,
Yes you need to parameterize the MM420 drive.
The best way is to contact the programmer to know the parameters. To control the drive via profibus, you need three basic settings:
  • P0700 = 6
  • P1000 = 6
  • Set the profibus address using dip switches to match the address in HW configuration.
I am assuming that motor parameters were already entered to the drive.
Then it will work.
To be sure that every thing is perfect, you have to contact the programmer. May be he want to change something in reference parameter (P2000).
Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for the info I am having a problem however in programming, the write up I got from the manufacturer does not seem to work. What I need to now is how to get into programming mode etc. If someone could give me an example I would appreciate it. For instance if I wanted to change parameter P0304 to 400 how would I go about it.

a) Get into parameter changing mode
b) Change parameter 0304 to 400
c) Save Changes
d) exit parameter changing mode.

Thanks

Nick

Hello,

To do the above successfully, you have to enter to quick comissioning phase.

P0010 = 1

Change P0304 now

P3900 = 3

For further information, please  download parameter list from here:

Parameter List: MICROMASTER 420
Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for the info. I have loaded all the parameters but still no luck getting the motor to run. I set the micromaster to run from the front panel controls and the motor runs ok so I know the voltages etc are good. When I set the micromaster to use profibus the motor will not run I am not getting any error messages on the display. Both P0700 and P1000 are set to 6 and the profibus address is set on the hardware switches and in the parameter. The green light is on on the front of the profibus module. Is there any way I can see if the micromaster is getting a command from the profibus to turn on?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

Hello Nick S,

Best way for  you to view this is to view the control word in the drive per attachment.
