could i use simple SD card to update firmware?

For S7-1200 PLCs with firmware < 3.0, the MMC slot using that expen$ive $iemen$ MMC is the only way.  My first firmware update I borrowed an MMC from a regional Siemens applications engineer and then purchased one myself.  That card had been used maybe 20-30 times over the last couple of years. Helpful? Rate it. Solved? Post it.
