Hi, We are working in cement industry and we want to upgrade our existing ESP filter with a new bag filter. We have an existing PCS7 system in our plant and we asked to the companies to use a new S7-300 PLC for this small project including one new workstation for the operator. (In the plant we use SIMATIC PCS7 V6.1 Engineering PowerPack (AS/OS PO 3000)). The company answered me that we can not use S7-300 within this project as it is not compatible with PCS7 V6.0. Is this true? For my knowledge both S7-300 nad S7-400 CPUs use same step7 software.

Thanks in advance for supports.
Best regards, Atilla YILDIZ

Hello apesky
The company answered me that we can not use S7-300 within this project as it is not compatible with PCS7 V6.0. Is this true? it's half true I'd say and perhaps there is just a bit of a misundestanding. PCS7 is based on S7-400 usage, but you can nonetheless sort of "integrate" an S7-300 into a PCS7 based system and below is the info on what to consider and do in this case: S7-300 / S7-400 Package Unit Integration in SIMATIC PCS 7
Having said, have you considered to simply expand your PCS7 system with a remote I/O station for this purpose and let your existing (PCS7 engineered) S7-400 do the logic?

I hope this helps

Hi Fritz, Thanks for information. Our idea is to use S7-300 not only as a remote IO but main controller for the logic and we want to connect it to existing PCS7. The company says this is not possible and we have to use S7-400 for the logic(then remote IO will be S7-300 modules) as S7-300 is not compatible with PCS7 engineering system.
