Dear Nishant,
The classes of motor refers to the classification based on insulation and temperature rise limit of the motor.
Please refer the attached informative pages on your topic.

Ajay Gupta

Dear Sir,
I want to know how you define classes of motors like(class 5, class 10, class 15, class 20)?????
based on these classes we define triping in numerical relays.

Hello,
I'm not sure if I understand but we have motor side no classes like 5, 10... like for the relays. We have classes for the temperature rise limit like Ajay Gupta has said. But other classes ?
Best regards

Hello,
Basically motors are manufactured on basis of power rating, RPM, duty cycle, insulation class, type of mounting, etc. Relays i.e. protection relays are selected upon the class or type of protection desiered, e.g. class 5, class 10 etc. So the general purpose manufactured motor may have class 5 or class 10 protection relay selected by the end user depedening upon the application & protection desiered by end user.
Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand. -Confucius
