I have here at my plant 6 Ti505 CPU's (545-1104, 1106, 1101) I would like to put them onto our engineering network using a serial server such as the LANTRONIX XPress-DR IAP. We are in the (slow) process of changing the system over to S7400 CPU and we also have various other S7300 PLC on the system. To save a lot of footwork placing the Ti505's onto the network and using 505 Workshop to help in addressing programming changes and integration.
Does anyone have any experience with this? What worked for you? Has anyone had success with conectiong through the LANTRONIX device and if so what were your terminations and settings?
Any and all help with this is greatly appreciated
Thank you

Hello Mike; At one point we were helpng a client move his TI505 networks from H1 to TCP/IP and used aa serial to Ethernet converter from Lantronix (don't remember the actual model, unfortunately) on a temporary basis. I recall it was an arduous process to establish connections with the CP 2572, and that programming with TISoft over the serial to Ethernet link was very, very slow. Monitoring small amounts of data was possible though and enough for our tests. As a temporary measure it was possible to endure the limitations, but I would never recommend it for any lengthy or critical application. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
