i have a S5-95U PLC with defective SI2 & PG Port
si2 is used to connect to HMI CORS OP15

now is it possible to replace with 6es5095-8ma03?
but there is no Si2 port on 6es5095-8ma03

So is it possible to replace it?

instead of si2 port can i use pg port in 95U (6es5095-8ma03)

is si2 a is tty interface?

Thanks

hi isteak,

you can certainly use the PG port (AS511) of a OP15 to talk to a 95U ive seen it done many times (although its a bit before my time to have done it myself).

You will probably have to do some sort of reconfiguration in the OP project (COMTEXT) to make it work though.  Wouldnt it be easier to find a direct replacement?

im not sure what you mean by SI2 interface, the 95U cpu's im familar with have L2 (early form of profibus) and the PG port plus two others for connetion of various kinds of io.

Hello,

whether you can replace your PLC S5-95U (defective SI2 and PG-Port) by the PLC S5-95U with the order number 6ES5095-8MA03 if you should clear directly over your local Siemens partner.

Yes the interface SI2 is a TTY-interface. I have found this information in the manual for this S5-PLC system.

In the manual “
S5-90U/S5-95U Programmable Controller System Manual” finds you more information.
Here the Link:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1091648

And more information finds you in the manual “Second Serial Interface of the S5-95U Programmable Controller”.
Here the Link:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1087141

I hope this information help you.

Best regards

Thnaks for your reply

We dont have the same PLC nor the siemens local dealer

So to connect OP15 in PG port do i have to change the cable?
or can i use the existing cable whis was used in si2 port.
Do i have to change anything in OP15 Project?

Thanks
ISteak

Hello,

Sorry, but I can answer only your questions on the hardware.

Yes, I thing you can use the existing cable you have already used between OP15 and PLC S5-95U/ SI2 (TTY-Interface). The interface SI1 (S5-95U) is also a TTY interface.
You find this information in the manuals I have you sent yesterday.

In the user’s manual “SIMATIC HMI Communication” finds your information about:

1. SIMATIC S5 Connections.
Please look at chapter 1.3.1 AS511 Connection between S5-PLC and Operating Unit (Operator Panel).

2. Information about the
Plug-in Connecting Cable Operating Unit <-> SIMATIC S5 (TTY) find you in the chapter Part VI Appendix > E Interface Area Assignment > Page E-2.

Here the Link for this important manual.

Hi isteak,

you don't need to change your project neither in op15 nor in plc95.

The only obstacle that might appear could be memory size. The plc 95C recently used provides 16 + 4 kB of memory. the replacement you want to test provides only 16 kB of memory. Hence please check the memory needed by your program.

Btw you will loose access to the pg port. Please let me recommend to replace the plc 95 now the way you asked, but replace it again by a spare part purchased at Siemens.

Cheers
