Dear Expert ,

PS407 shows BAF LED ON  as per manual it means Battery is Ok but some short circuit on the back plane.
But we have ONLy PS and CPU 414 , So I removed CPU and switched on the power the PS still has the BAF led ON. I just switched OFF battery monitor switch then BAF goes.
But one thing is sure CPU does not hold the Current data in case of power failure.
Already I replaced the battery (Just try) with new one but no use.
So what could be the solution for this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, if BAF LED is ON then it menas that your Battery is Faulty.

it menas that you dont want to moniter the Battery Healthyness Status.
During OFF Switch Status you will not get actual Battery Status.

May be the battery you installed is discharged.

Hello,

A new battery does not shut down the Baf warning  immediately.

It needs to be depasivated.
That takes a while.
You can speed up the proces by short circuiting the poles for 1 or 2 seconds.

The BAF led should now go off or the battery is empty.

Regards,

Marcjan

Dear Shira,

To eliminate the doubt of battery, u can give 2.7 VDC to 3.6 VDC power to the terminal on the PS407 where the battery are placed. See whether this works or not.

Does ur PS work on external supply and able to give sufficient voltage and current to the CPU?

The reason for quick discharge of the battery could be the shortcircuit on the backplane bus due to frequent power variation and/or disruption.

Thanks,
Vishal Parmar.

 Hi

Might sound little absurd but if you still have the battery fault then replace the  battery and press the FMR switch and check it will reset the fault. Please check that

If still replace the PS or change the RACK and check.

Have fun....Rnf:lblSmileyTooltip_

Dear ShiRaPatil,

In addition to all the answers.

Please have a look at this link:
Why is a battery fault signaled when you insert a back-up battery, even though the battery is new?

Best regards,
