Hello

We have an application in which we want to communicate with 8 nos. Remote stations ( With S7-200 + MD720-3 ) .

At the central it is not technically feasible to get a ISP connection with a Static IP. However we are able to install a GSM Modem with STATIC IP Data Activated SIM.

We plan to use a PC with WinCC Flexible + SINAUT Micro-SC  alongwith the connection through the GSM Modem.

Will this configuration work ?

Additionally we need to be able to send / receive SMS to a pre-programmed number from the S7-200 stations while connected to the central station on GPRS. Is this possible ?

Thanks

Navnag

If it is a SIM having a static & public this configuration will work. (Ensure that you will get a REAL public IP address, not a semi-public IP address behind some NAT-mechanism of the provider).

If you have a SIM card with static & private this configuration will work when your SIM cards of your remote station are in the same private network having the permission of your provider to communication with each other. (http://www.marcant.net/ <-- this will work, i have tested it already)

Note that you need to have a modem with port-forwarding functionality. E.g. the Scalance M873-0 will work.

with the mas31-blocks you cannot switch from opc mode (gprs communication to sinaut micro sc) to at mode (sms communication). in that case you would need a second port (e.ga. cpu 224 xp, or cpu 226) with an separat modem (maybe md720-3) with application mas 5. then your requirements will be possible. i recommand this solution.

if you dont want to have 2x ports and 2xmodems you can use the mas21-blocks where the WDC_CONTROL block is included. you can switch between opc mode and at mode. note that your gprs-connection will be paused during sending sms.

Hello,
I wonder why using Scalance M873-0 modem in the control center and not MD720-3 modem, I don't see the difference
