Hi

Don't know but I would prefer a PLC for most uses .Maybe if you need to log a lot of signals and do some processing for a higher level system then a box PC could be a better solution.

Also connecting IQ to box pc is not as simple , you need to use or profibus or profinet.

Here we only work on 'no need to know basis' ,just fix whatever is wrong

Hello Viral,

I will Suggest to use Simatic PLC.
But what is your application?

I believe that we can only compare S7-mec, IPC427 with RTX, and a standard PLC. S7-mec rtx is equivalent in most applications, the S7-400 as the structural profinet with the S7-300. This - plus. But it is impossible redundancy, to establish the functional modules FM. there are restrictions on communications processors - is a minus. These basic limitations in the application. if they do not matter. It is possible to choose

but WinAC RTX is also available with Failsafe (WinAC RTX F), even as Bundle on IPC427 or Embedded Controller.

Have Fun!

If you need to interface your process with other devices/software on your PC, you may want to consider on of the WinAC products.  The WinAC ODK add-on provides a nice interface for interaction with other PC based software or devices.

According to my experiences, choice between a S7-CPU and WinAC depends on the field of use. I don't trust a PC commanding a chemical process. I don't think a PC based solution can be as robust as a PLC.

But if you want to grab some field data and create reports, databases etc, then WinAC may be an appropriate solution.
