I downloaded the TIsoft27.1 and used it for a few days. Then today I was on a TI 555 and comunications became very slugish. I was using my laptop with a usb to serial cable set to com1.
I connected to my desk top and ran TIsoft6.0 and I had good communications. I can't run 6.0 on my laptop it is terribly slugish. It seems the 7.0 has corrupted my com1. I have uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it and there seems to be the com1 is hosed. Has anyone got an answer.

Imroberts,
I have not used usb to serial adapters with TISOFT.  I use a docking station/port replicator to get a serial port.
When you said you used 6.0 on your desktop and it worked fine, were you talking to the same PLC with the same serial cable as the laptop?
Are you sure the baud rate on the PLC did not get changed?  Working at 9600 baud is very sluggish.
Are you plugged into the same port on the PLC as in previous days?
Do you have a way to test the usb to serial adapter on a different laptop or PC?
Have you checked the Windows system and application logs for any messages?
What operating system are you running on the laptop?
Good luck,

I have used the usb to rs232 on my desktop I now use only TISoft6.0 though. I am Afraid to use the 7.0 as when the comm problem developed on my laptop set to com1, I set my laptop to com2 and ran 6.0 and
I had good communications.
I thought well mabey its the com1 for some reason. So I went back to TISoft 7.0 and ran, the communications were bad again. So I ran 6.0 and lo and behold that is messed up on com2 also.
So now both ports are hossed as far as good communications, very slow cannot hardly edit in program mode This is even TI6.0,  I have uninstalled and reinstalled comports. I even started using the actual com 1 on my laptop, which I suddenly realized I had, new laptop previously using desktop which didnot have serial port.      Still very slugish like it were talking at 300 baud not 19.2 or 9600.
Just in case anyone reads about this problem, and has a simular problem. It has been resolved. It seems as though the directory that I was running in had gotten corrupt not the ports.I created a new directory and ran the TISoft and the communications are up to snuff. Just thought someone might be interested!
