Dear Sir,

I am doing modbus communication using UDP connection. I have question that do I need to configure CP (343) card in hardware for Inserting New Connection in Netpro connfiguration? I tried do it without inserting CP in hardware configuration but I am getting error. I have attached error image. I am using CPU 315-2 PN/DP as I am having PN port already in CPU why do I need to configure extra CP for PN port?  Please give some guidance on this.

Hello s_vb

you can use the PN port of the CPU for UDP (or TCP and ISO on TCP) but it will NOT be configured in NetPro.
Instead you use so called "Open Communication" which means the connection is configured, established and used via your user program and below are a few links with more on this:
How do you program the communication blocks FB67 "TUSEND", FB68 "TURCV", FB65 "TCON" and FB66 "TDISCON" in order to use the UDP protocol for data exchange by means of the integrated PROFINET interface of a CPU?
Wizard for creating connection data for open TCP, ISO on TCP or UDP communication (Open Communication Wizard).

I hope this helps and good luck with your "Modbus on UDP" implementation.

Cheers

fritz

Hello Shailesh,
you don't need a CP card. Fritz just mentioned that the connection for PN CPUs are not setup in NetPro.
