IO-Link: complete transparency down to the lowest field level

With IO-Link, Siemens backs a vendor-independent industrial standard for connecting actuators and sensors by means of an intelligent and cost-effective interface.
Using the example of two applications in the solar and food industry, Siemens shows how IO-Link solutions can be put to practice.

IO-Link - Intelligent Communication inside Cabinet and Field

Cabinet and Field
The open communication standard IO-Link establishes a communication link between a device at field level and the controller, thereby enabling the efficient exchange of parameters, diagnostic data and measured values. Within the new monitoring relays 3UG48 and the temperature monitoring relays 3RS14/15, the combination of the basic function monitoring and IO-Link proofs this again inside the cabinet.

IO-Link closes the communication gap on the last meters to the process: Systematic diagnostics concepts and the efficient handling of parameter data are required on all levels of automation technology. This necessitates the intelligent connection of sensors and switching devices (actuators) to the control level.
The open IO-Link communication standard is ideally suited for this task.
