Preventing potential failures ...

... with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)

Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) Electrical devices and systems malfunction in the presence of supply disturbances such as variations in voltage or frequency, short interruptions, or grid failure. In the case of data processing equipment, this can often lead to processing errors, data loss, and in the worst case to lasting damage to both software and hardware.

The rugged industrial PC power supply units of SIMATIC PCs bridge voltage drops of up to 20 ms (in accordance with NAMUR requirements).

The uninterruptible SITOP and Masterguard power supplies for 24 V DC or 115/230 V AC or customized UPSs are available for nonstop use during longer power failures.
Advantage: the system can reliably save important data and shut down in a controlled manner.

The SITOP UPS500S uninterruptible power supply is based on high-value capacitors as energy stores. These capacitors have a long service life even at temperatures up to 60 °C, and thus save the regular replacement of batteries which has to be carried out annually in the case of conventional lead-acid batteries e.g. at an ambient temperature of 40 °C. Forced ventilation is not required for the control cabinet since the emission of hydrogen with capacitors as the energy store is ruled out. SITOP UPS500S is maintenance-free, and system-tested with SIMATIC PCs. Therefore it is the perfect UPS for the also maintenance-free SIMATIC Microbox PC 427B.
