Hello Alexander,

you don't require to turn-off power for replacing battery.

Go ahead and chage the battery without tension

Dear experts,

another question comes to my mind that the S7-400 plc has got battery as well as internal memory (RAM) and external memory(EEPROM) so is it possible to run the plc with ......
1          battery + RAM
2          RAM + EEPROM
3          ONLY RAM

I can understand that the option no 2 is possible and some problem happened at power failure

There is even another option:ram+battery+EEprom.
What is the exactlythequestion?
You want to know how CPU react after power faillure in all situations?

in the slot of    s7-400  PLC top side possible install also RAM card. What you need?

Hi,
actually I have seen some previously installed system in which the EEPROM is used in the slot

I was just curious to know what will happen in case of power failure in all the condition mentioned earlier
The above information is only required to improve my knowledge about the PLC not for any project etc

Hello,

1          battery + RAM
After power return, PLC start normally from RAM and no DATA loss.


2          RAM + EEPROM
After power return, PLC loads program from EEPROM into RAM, all DB are loaded with initial values.


3          ONLY RAM

Program is lost and needs to be downloaded again.
