Hello,
There is an FAQ with DIP settings:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/50837578
On the most right and left OLM, I guess that you have one unused optical port.
For that unused port, I would set:
Mode “bus without fiber-optic link monitoring”
CH2 is set to this mode, when S1 is in position 1 and S2 is in position 0.
CH3 is set to this mode, when S3 is in position 1 and S4 is in position 0.
For the used optical ports, I would set:
Mode “bus with fiber-optic link monitoring and segmentation”
CH2 is set to this mode, when S1 and S2 are in position 0.
CH3 is set to this mode, when S3 and S4 are in position 0.
The electrical segments:
Mode “electrical channel with segment monitoring“
CH1 is set to this mode, when S0 is in position 0.
If you use recent devices only,
The default setting of S7 is position 0 (compatibility with older devices disabled).
Please note the following: The OLM must be switched off when changing any setting. You can achieve this for
example by disconnecting the 5-pin terminal block.
Be also very sure that the Transmit and receive fiber-optic cables are swapped over.
There is an arrow near the connectors showing the sending/receiving fiber.
Furthermore, OLMs detect automatically the baudrate. For this, you should connect at least a Profibus Master on the bus and a slave (to generate traffic). From the manual:
Flashing red:
- There is no transmitting bus node
- No connection to a partner module sending frames
- Only one single bus node is connected, which only sends token to itself. After activation of a second bus node, the display must change (token frames are not enough to set the transmission rate)
