Hi Experts,
In a master slave configuration of Simoreg DC Master 6RA70 DC Drive, the master drive is tripping at F048 with a fault value 2
F048 = Fault in measuring channel for digital speed sensing using pulse encoder
fault value 2 = Pulse encoder defective:
I have checked the following parameters but not able to solve the problem.
· EMC-related interference on a pulse encoder signal (terminals 28 to 31)
· Pulse encoder defective
· Interruption in an encoder cable
· Short circuit between an encoder cable and the supply voltage or another encoder cable
· P110 or P111 is incorrectly set (resulting in incorrectly calculation of EMF)
Encoder is also working.
Please suggest a suitable solution.

How you have connected encoder?

Connect Ground terminal with Track 1 and Track 2 negetive. I mean all this 3 terminals should be short linked in pulse encoder connection for 6RA70

Hi Devesh,
The encoder connection has been done in the same manner as suggested by you and what about the shielding ?Should it be grounded 0on both the sides that is panel side and motor side?
Please reply.

Well there are several openion regarding this

But my experience is good on grounding both sides of cable shield.

Also make sure encoder cable is not passing near through any Power cable

Check all possible EMC which can cause disturbance in signal

I seen at one place, distribution cable passing near by was causing problem in encoder signal in crane which was at distance more than 200-300 mtrs

Hello.
How your encoder gets power supply, from X173:26,27 or from external power supply.
Often laying the bonding cable (min 10 mm2 copper) in parallel with the encoder cable may help to avoid potential differences and thus enhance the pulse signals.
