MCC - Motor Control Centre

It consists of the following
1. Main Incomer
2. Outgoing Feeder for Motor applications
    1. While taking one outgoing feeder in consideration it has
        1. SDF or MCCB as an Incomer
        2. OLR for Over Load relay
        3. Main (gives motor power input) and Auxilliary Contactor (interlock and status purpose).
        4. Phase Failure Relay or some other protective mechanisms.

PCC - Power Control Centre

It Consists of the following

If you taking one process building for consideration

it will have

1. Power Sockets,
2,. Lights
3. EOT Cranes
4. Compressor
5. MCC for Controlling the process equipments.

Hence, PCC will be acting as an Incomer end for MCC

So, by this explonation - i hope you may clarified more.

PCC: The main supply of the MCC /Syaten is taken from PCC.
MCC are used for motor control station most of the time.
PCC acts as a gateway for electrical line.

Thanks for prompt reply.
Now one more question hereRnf:lblSmileyTooltip_ think

Why MCCB?  and why not MPCB?

what does it make diff.?

No it doesnt make any difference

Btw, Nice explanation

Just to Add:

MCC contains all Feeders which are directly related with System running in Plant

PCC may have outgoing for MLDB and PDB also

MLDB: Main Light distribution Board - Used for Lighting the whole Plant
PDB: Power Distribution Board - Used for Powering welding Sockets, and other Utility supplies which cant given directly from MCC

In our Plant, PCC incomer is coming directly from PCC Transformers and MCC incomere is from PCC

Regards
Devesh

Please say Thanks if your Problem is Solved.. :-)

Dear Chevli,

MCC means MOTOR CONTROL CENTRE (As You know). It is used to control motor feeder.
PCC means POWER CONTROL CENTRE(As You Know). It is used to Power feeder.

Generally, MCC feeds from the PCC panels. And PCC feeds directly from the Transformer..

Regards.

MCCB - Moulded Case Circuit Breaker

It is the replacement of SDF. advantage over SDF is - SDF may bring the situation for single phasing but MCCB won't.

Especially in SDF line, you have put Single Phase Preventer. with MCCB you have avoid it.

MTBF is more for MCCB.

Control from Remote location is possible in MCCB.

OLR Characteristics in accurate like OLR and MPCB is not there in MCCB.

MPCB - Motor Protection Circuit Breaker

It is the combination of OLR and Fuse. i.e., if you are having a feeder with SDF and OLR you can replace it by only one MPCB.

It doesn't make any difference but generally for Motors we use MPCBs(even MCCB) and for load such as heaters we use MCCB.

MPCB has inbuilt Overload Relay, whereas MCCB dont have.
